A prayer about the Holy Spirit

When I ponder how the Holy Spirit helps me

Heavenly Father,

You have given me the precious gift of the Holy Spirit—your very presence within me! Your Spirit helps me to understand your deep truths and to discover the wonders of your character. The Holy Spirit also convicts me of my sin, pointing out the truth of what I am doing compared to what I should be doing. By myself I’m weak, but I have you in me, showing me right from wrong, good from bad, and your way from the way of the world. I’m amazed that you care enough to give me one-on-one instruction and counsel on how to live a life that pleases you. Thank you, Lord, for this wonderful gift. May my heart always be responsive to the Spirit’s teaching and leading so that this gift may never go to waste.

The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives. Galatians 5:22-25
