A prayer about Help

When I realize I can’t do everything by myself

Heavenly Father,

I’m so aware of my limitations, weaknesses, lack of skill, and feelings of inadequacy. Sometimes I just don’t know what to do or how to do it. I’ve hit a crisis now, and I can’t handle it by myself—I need your help. Thank you for creating me to be in relationship with you and with other people. You don’t expect me to be self-sufficient and do everything alone; you have wired me both to receive help and to give it to others. Lord, I need help in so many areas—to get work done, to restore a relationship, to develop my skills, to think through a problem, to say “I’m sorry” when my heart is hard. You are the ultimate helper, for you are wise, strong, and infinitely loving. May I stop trying to do everything by myself and cultivate the habit of seeking help from you and from others. In turn, may I be willing to lend a hand to those around me who are in need.

The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. Psalm 28:7
