A Prayer About Unconditional Love
A prayer about Unconditional Love
When I want to love unconditionally
Father,
I’m so limited in my expression of love to those around me. When I am angry or feel hurt, my tendency is to withdraw from the one who hurt me. When my family or my friends disappoint me, I don’t feel kindness toward them. But your Word makes clear that I am called to love. Help me to follow your perfect example of loving unconditionally. Teach me that agape love is more about action than feeling—doing the right thing even when I don’t feel like it. Grant me the self-discipline to act with kindness even to those who may be undeserving; remind me that you love me even when I don’t deserve it. I know that loving unconditionally doesn’t mean having no boundaries; after all, the Old Testament shows that you loved the Israelites with your whole heart yet still allowed them to suffer consequences for their idolatry. But you loved them, and me, just the same.
May you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Ephesians 3:18-19
