A prayer about Growth

When I want to grow spiritually

Lord,

Sometimes I get impatient with my spiritual growth because I can’t see much change from one week to the next. But I know that, just like physical growth, spiritual growth starts small and grows a little at a time, day by day. I pray for the discernment to recognize the progress I have made and the patience to rest in the ongoing transformation. Remind me that I need nourishment to grow. Help me to challenge myself to study your Word, ask questions about it, and seek answers through prayer and the counsel of other believers. Teach me that each day is a building block; when I commit to building a life of godly character one day at a time, I will grow more and more spiritually mature. Thank you that the work is not all up to me. You are faithful to work in my heart, giving me the desire to please you. Spiritual growth is your goal for me, and you will bring it to fruition.

We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. Colossians 1:9-10
