A prayer about God’s Hand

When I am amazed that God would pursue me

Almighty God,

I am amazed when I read in your Word that you are looking for a personal relationship with each person you have created—including me! I am a sinner, yet you pursue me. You do it not to get something from me but to give wonderful things to me: help, hope, power, salvation, joy, peace, eternal life. You pursue me because you love me, and you know how these gifts can transform my life forever. I’m grateful that, because you want the best for me, you relentlessly call me to turn away from sin and turn to an eternal relationship with you. Your desire is that no one would reject you, yet you allow each person the freedom to return your love or to spend eternity apart from you. Thank you, Lord, for pursuing me even in my unworthiness. You call me your child, and I am overcome with awe and gratitude. May I always be captivated by your pursuing, unfailing love.

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23:6
