A prayer about Excellence

When I ponder why I need to give my best to God

Heavenly Father,

I know that what I value reflects the condition of my heart. When I give you my best, I show how much I value my relationship with you. But too often my actions show that I am not truly putting you first in my life. When I give you only what is left of my income, I’m showing that I value money more than you. When I spend time with you only when it’s convenient, I’m communicating that I value other things more than time with you. Forgive me for trying to get away with less than my best. You have given only the best to me—salvation and eternal life through the death and resurrection of Christ! I pray for the commitment to put you first, to give you my best instead of my leftovers. May my choices reflect my love for you. I know you will bless me for it.
