A Prayer About Evil

A prayer about Evil

When I wonder why God allows evil in the world

Lord,

I can’t go an hour without being aware that evil exists in the world—and sometimes its presence seems overwhelming. When I wonder why you allow it, I always come back to the same thing: Genuine love requires the freedom to choose. You wanted a loving relationship with me, so you gave me the freedom to choose your way or my way. Too often I choose my own way, and no one knows better than I do that my way leads to sin. I know this breaks your heart, Lord, and it breaks mine, too. Help me to realize that though evil exists, I can choose to do what is right. When I do, you are pleased, good prevails, and Satan loses ground. I know that someday you will destroy the power of evil for all time. Until that day, may I fight evil by choosing to obey you and doing good.

Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. 1 Peter 5:8-9
