A Prayer About Emptiness
A prayer about Emptiness
When my soul is dry and empty
Heavenly Father,
My heart feels empty today. I feel a loss of motivation, meaning, and purpose, and there seems no reason to go on. I know any of many things can cause this feeling of emptiness—the death of a loved one, the end of a friendship, being ignored or rejected. It’s always some sort of loss that empties one’s emotional tank. My reserves are used up, Lord, and I have nothing left to give. I’m hungering and thirsting for something to fill me and satisfy me! I know that Satan is always ready to move into my empty heart, wanting to deceive me into thinking that what he offers can satisfy. But I ask for your protection from him. Fill me instead with your love, truth, and goodness through the presence of the Holy Spirit. You are the Living Water that can refresh me eternally. I am waiting on you, Lord, to restore meaning, purpose, and satisfaction in my life.
Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’” John 7:37-38
