A prayer about Emotions

When I wonder what God thinks about emotions

Lord,

You have created me to be an emotional being, but sometimes others discourage me from expressing my feelings. Many people seem to think that our goal as Christians is to be stoic or tranquil at all times, never swaying from an even keel. However, the reality is that emotions are a good gift from you. After all, they’re evidence that I am created in your image! When I read the Bible, I see that you displayed a whole range of emotions, including anger, sorrow, love, and zeal. Through the prophets, you cried out to the Israelites in anguish when they turned away from you, and you spoke passionately about your love for them when they turned back. It’s clear that you don’t want me to be an emotionless robot, but a person who loves what you love, hates what you hate, and rejoices in what brings you joy. Thank you for giving me emotions. Please continue to mold me so my emotions mirror your own.
