A Prayer About Dignity
A prayer about Dignity
When I’m searching for dignity
Lord God,
When I feel as if I’ve lost my sense of dignity, it’s usually because I’ve started basing my worth on others’ opinions. I recognize in myself the human tendency to rank others from important to insignificant, but that kind of evaluation is not your way. You have created every human being on earth in your image, and that gives each of us immense worth and significance in your eyes. As I seek dignity, may I remember that it has two sides—first, accepting my own worth as you see me, and second, recognizing that same worthiness in others. May I see others as you do, worthy of my love and respect no matter where they live, what they look like, or what they do. When I behave respectably, have self-control and strong faith, and am loving and patient, then I’m showing dignity. May I realize anew that your esteem and approval are all I need.
God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
