A Prayer About Complacency
A prayer about Complacency
When I’m struggling to care about things that matter
Father God,
Apathy has set in, and I’ve lost my sense of passion and purpose. Apathy has drained me of motivation and excitement. I feel stuck, but I know you have the power to rescue me. I’ve believed Satan’s lie that following you is nothing to be excited about. The truth is, following you is the only thing to be excited about! When I rehearse your wonderful work in my life—your salvation, your loving-kindness, your watchful care—my excitement is rekindled. I know that it is only through following you and serving you that my life will have meaning, energy, and purpose. Your Word describes the antidote to apathy: purposeful work, a thankful heart, and service to others. O Lord, please help me fight off feelings of apathy. Renew my focus on your purpose for my life, and cause me to anticipate with excitement the blessings you have in store for me.
God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. Hebrews 6:10-12
