A Prayer About Deception

A prayer about Deception

When I realize that I’ve been deceiving myself

Lord God,

When I think I can disobey you and not suffer the consequences, I’m deceiving myself. When I live as though this world is all there is, I’m deceiving myself. When I think I can ignore you and still receive all your blessings, I’m deceiving myself. O Lord, give me the wisdom to perceive when I’m falling prey to deception; open my eyes to see what is true. May materialism and the pursuit of pleasure never blind me to the realities of your wisdom, guidance, holiness, and justice. Allow me to open my heart to your Word, that your truth may break through the lies to help me see my life from your perspective. I praise you that your truth will always prevail.

Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. Galatians 6:7-8
