A prayer about Assurance

When I need to be assured of God’s unchanging love

Loving God,

Your Word tells me that I can always be certain of your love for me. When I go through hard times, I sometimes feel as though you have abandoned me, but you have promised never to leave me so I trust you are near. Hard times reveal my need for your infinite love and care for me. In the midst of the pain and difficulty, teach me to pay attention so that I can see you working and feel your support. You have also provided some wonderful people in my life, and I’m thankful for the assurance I receive from them. I know, though, that you are the only one I can trust completely without fear of being disappointed. Your love gives me security for today and for eternity.

O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” Isaiah 43:1-3
