A prayer about Courage

When I need courage in the face of difficulty

Lord God,

I wish scary situations never came up in my life, but they do. Extreme stress, major illness, financial difficulties, and strained family relationships are just a few I’ve faced. When I’m encountering situations like these, I don’t feel very brave. Help me to remember that I don’t have to be strong by myself. True courage comes from understanding that you are stronger than my biggest problem or my worst enemy. Your Word makes clear that you want to help me by giving me your power! Thank you, Lord, that even when my faith is shaky, I can have absolute confidence in your strength. I am afraid when I feel as if I am facing a great threat alone. But when I know you are beside me helping me fight the threat, I can be courageous. May I never forget your presence with me. Build up my courage so I may be able to face whatever lies ahead.

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10
