A Prayer About Comparisons
A prayer about Comparisons
When I struggle with comparing myself to others
Lord,
So often I look at the women around me and wonder how I compare. Satan tries to convince me that my worth is based on how well I measure up in how I look, what I own, what I can do, or what people think about me. But that just leaves me feeling either inadequate and envious or full of pride. I don’t want either of those extremes, Father. Teach me to determine my worth by accepting your love for me. In your eyes I am valued and loved—as is everyone else. I need to find that balance between humility over my sin and exultation at your lavish grace, which has no comparison. Thank you for all the gracious ways you show your love to me.
Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else. For we are each responsible for our own conduct. Galatians 6:4-5
