A Prayer About Commitment
A prayer about Commitment
When I ponder what it means to belong to God
Lord God,
You are my heavenly Father, and I am your child. Yet there’s another way you relate to me: you tell me that as a believer, I am part of your bride, the church. What an amazing promise! Your Word often uses marriage as an illustration for the holy relationship between you and your people. That’s because both relationships—Father/child and marriage—are formed on the basis of a covenant, a holy promise, in which the parties will be faithful to each other exclusively. That image helps me to understand what it really means to be united with you. You are the one divine love of my life, and I have committed to loving, serving, and obeying you as long as I live and through eternity. I am filled with gratitude that you have called me to be part of the eternal relationship between Christ and his bride. As I think about this truth, I pray that the joy I find in my walk with you will grow and grow.
Praise the LORD! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself. Revelation 19:6-7
