A Prayer About Accountability

A prayer about Accountability

When I consider my accountability to God

Heavenly Father,

I sometimes shy away from accepting accountability because it feels restrictive. It also forces me to open up dark corners of my life that I’d prefer to keep hidden, but I know that’s the very reason accountability is so necessary. Giving an account of myself to a mature believer I can trust will help me make better decisions. Ultimately, Lord, I know accountability means answering to you. You know all the secrets of my heart anyway—why do I ever try to hide from you? Teach me to be honest with you and tell you about my struggles. Give me ears to listen to your voice as I read your Word and find guidance for living, guard me from doing something I will later regret, and guide me into the right path.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. Psalm 139:23-24
