A Prayer About Approval
A prayer about Approval
When I ponder how I have God’s approval
Lord God,
I confess that whether I approve of others often comes down to their appearance or performance, even though I know it’s shallow to look only at the outside. I’m blessed when I remember that your approval of me is based on your grace and unconditional love. Because I am your child, redeemed by Christ, you love me no matter what I do or how well I measure up. This doesn’t mean you approve of my sinful behavior—that may have consequences. But you love me for who I am rather than for what I do. You created me in your image, and I am yours. I praise you for the amazing knowledge that nothing I do will cause you to love me any less. There’s no way I can earn your approval, but through Christ I have your approval. May that motivate me to do all I can to please you.
I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
