A Prayer About Accomplishments
A prayer about Accomplishments
When I wonder about my accomplishments
Lord,
Sometimes I assume that accomplishing great things is the way to become spiritually great. I feel as though I need to earn respect from others, impress others, and gain their approval. But that carries over to my relationship with you, and then I feel that I have to earn your love and forgiveness too. Impress on my heart, Lord, that I am accepted because of your grace, not because of what I accomplish. Romans 8:29-30 tells me that you accepted me even before I accomplished anything! What a reassuring truth. May I always understand that the good things I do are a result of your grace in me, not my own efforts. Release me from the bondage of needing to be accepted because of my performance, and free me to let you carry out your plans through me.
This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” Romans 1:17
