A Prayer About Mistakes
A prayer about Mistakes
When I’m weighed down by my mistakes
Heavenly Father,
I make so many mistakes, and sometimes I feel like giving up. How can you use me when I stumble so often? But in my discouragement, I remember the apostle Peter. Luke 22:31-34 explains that Jesus knew Peter would deny him, so Jesus prayed, asking first that Peter’s mistakes would not cause him to lose his faith, and second, that Peter would eventually use the lessons he learned from his sins to strengthen others spiritually. You answered that prayer, Lord. I’m amazed when I read the book of Acts and see how you transformed Peter into the leader of your church in Jerusalem and an encourager of those suffering for their faith. I know that you can transform me, too. I may still face the heartache and consequences of my sin, yet in your wonderful grace you can use even my worst failures to strengthen my faith and enable me to better comfort and help others. May my mistakes never be wasted, Lord! Use them in my life so that I may bring glory to you.
The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the LORD holds them by the hand. Psalm 37:23-24
