A Prayer About Criticism
A prayer about Criticism
When I’m facing criticism
Mighty God,
My pride is wounded right now because I’ve received criticism. I don’t like to hear negative feedback from others, and I confess that my initial reaction is to ignore it. But I know your Word says that rejecting correction is foolish. If I want to be wise, I need to have a teachable heart. Help me, God, to view this criticism as a gift from you that might keep me from pursuing the wrong path. It can be painful to hear the truth, but it would be worse if I continued in harmful behavior. I want to get on the right track; I want to grow in my faith. I know you sometimes use the gentle rebuke of a trusted friend to get my attention and guide me. May I listen closely to you, Lord, so that you can help me discern wise correction. I always want to have a heart that is receptive to your leading.
Timely advice is lovely, like golden apples in a silver basket. To one who listens, valid criticism is like a gold earring or other gold jewelry. Proverbs 25:11-12
