A Prayer Of Thanksgiving - 365 Pocket Morning Prayers

A prayer of Thanksgiving - Cultivating an attitude of gratitude

GRACIOUS HEAVENLY FATHER,

Thank you for all you have done, are doing, and will do for me. You created me with a purpose in mind. Through the years, you have nourished, cared for, protected, and led me. Although I was lost and condemned in my sins, you sent Jesus to die on the cross for me. Then you chose and drew me to yourself, so that by faith in Christ I joined your family. Through your grace and the Holy Spirit, you continue to guide and direct my steps and provide for all my needs: your inerrant Word, food, shelter, and community. I praise you, Lord. As I go through this day, I want to be aware of all your gifts: home, community, natural beauty, stores (and the means to purchase what I need), sunlight and shade, and people who love me. Your blessings surround me, but often I forget or am blind to them. I owe my life to you—every breath I take. Open my eyes to your gracious gifts.

Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds. . . . Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given. 1 Chronicles 16:8-9, 12
