A Prayer For Freedom From Sin

A prayer for Freedom From Sin - Living with two natures

AUTHOR OF SALVATION,

I know Jesus died for me, taking the punishment for my sins on himself; thus, through faith in him I am forgiven. But my life is far from what it should be. How I live right now is frustrating because I keep slipping and letting my sinful self show. Most aggravating, I know that what I do is wrong, yet I do it anyway. Later, I feel guilty but know that given the same circumstances, I probably would fall again. This is such a destructive cycle. My struggle is normal because no matter how much I want to deny the truth, sinning is my default setting. But you’ve changed me, Lord, and I want to be better; I want to glorify you in all I do and say. I know I can’t defeat sin in my own strength—only through you working in me. Please break the hold of sin and set me free.

Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin. Romans 7:24-25
