A Prayer About Telling The Good News

A prayer about Telling The Good News - Reaching my neighbors

DEAR JESUS,

I feel convicted about my lack of witness. When I learned how you came to earth, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for sin, and rose from the dead so that, by faith, I could be forgiven and have eternal life, I was amazed, gratified, and humbled. But I know this news is not exclusively mine and must be shared. The reality is that people who don’t know you are lost in their sins and bound for hell. You said we should love our neighbors, and that means telling them about you. The people who live closest to me—next door, across the street, and around the block—don’t know you. I have the gospel message, and they don’t; yet I’m just a few steps away. Forgive me, Savior, for keeping the news to myself. Show me what I can do to reach my “Jerusalem.” Give me opportunities for conversation and the words to say. Then strengthen me to lovingly share how you changed my life.

The second [commandment] is equally important: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Mark 12:31

[Jesus said,] “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
