A Prayer About Storms

A prayer about Storms - Experiencing Jesus’ presence

PRECIOUS SAVIOR,

In that little vessel on the sea, pummeled by waves and tossed by wind, the disciples were terrified, even though you were in their boat. They didn’t realize who you were and what you could do. So when you calmed the wind and waves, they were amazed. I often feel as those men did; assaulted on every side by waves of problems and winds of change, I wonder if I will survive. My “boat” is tiny, but I know you are with me. And I know so much more about you than they did. I’ve read the rest of the story, and I’ve seen you work miracles of grace in countless lives, including my own. So why am I afraid in the storms when I know that you are God and that everything obeys you, even the weather? Savior, help me take my eyes off my difficult circumstances and look to you. Help me trust you in every situation, even when the outlook seems hopeless by human standards. Thank you for being with me always.

Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!” Then he got up and rebuked the wind and waves, and suddenly there was a great calm. The disciples were amazed. “Who is this man?” they asked. “Even the winds and waves obey him!” Matthew 8:26-27
