A prayer about Rewards - Building on my foundation

HOLY SPIRIT,

Certainly the foundation of my life is Jesus. Without him, I would be dead in my sins and headed for an eternity separated from God. When I came to Christ, you began living in me, and I became part of God’s forever family. Because that happened at the end of a long process, I can forget that my conversion was the beginning of my new life with God. I should build on that foundation. Paul made it clear that many take their faith for granted and, in essence, add only “wood, hay, or straw”—things that will surely be destroyed. I must add the gold of Bible study and sound doctrine, the silver of fellowship and loving service, and the jewels of sharing the Good News with others. In other words, I should be a person who lives my faith. And I can do this only through your strength. Empower me to stand before God unashamed and receive my rewards.

Anyone who builds on that foundation may use a variety of materials—gold, silver, jewels, wood, hay, or straw. But on the judgment day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value. If the work survives, that builder will receive a reward. 1 Corinthians 3:12-14
