ADVOCATE AND FRIEND,

I want to grow in my faith, to live a godly life, so I need the spiritual supplements Peter listed. Beginning with faith, Lord, fill me with confidence that you are holding me and leading me forward. I want to trust you completely with every step I take. Then, as I believe your Word, keep me on the path of moral excellence, doing what pleases you. Next Peter listed knowledge, so I ask for opportunities to study and go deep through Bible lessons and godly teachers, learning more about you and your will. I know that self-control comes only as I allow you to guide me, so I submit to you and ask for restraint and discipline. In all of this, I certainly will be tested daily, so I ask that you strengthen me and bring me safely through. I try to love people in the church and out, but I need your help with those who are difficult to love. My desire is to know Christ and to be useful for the Kingdom.

Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. 2 Peter 1:5-7
