A prayer about Self-control - Exercising restraint

GOD,

This morning I pray for self-control. When I am with people who seem to dislike me and enjoy getting under my skin, I become tempted to respond in kind, with sarcasm or by vigorously defending myself and my position. Please give me restraint. Help me to be calm and disciplined, carefully measuring my words and actions so they honor you and everyone else.

A person without self-control is like a city with broken-down walls. Proverbs 25:28
