A Prayer About Heaven

A prayer about Heaven - Knowing my destination

DEAR JESUS,

I have been astounded at the sales success of books about heaven over the past few years, especially the ones giving first-person accounts of individuals who claim to have had an after-death or near-death experience and allegedly visited there. Evidently our increasingly secular society still has a spiritual longing or at least a curiosity about what happens after the great mystery, death. I also think many believers want to know that eternal life is real. I am so grateful for your Word and what it teaches about life, death, and what happens next. I admit that I, too, have questions about the afterlife. I miss my loved ones who have died and wish they could return, even for just a few hours, and tell me what they are experiencing—that certainly would give me assurance. But you did that, Jesus. And you promised to prepare a place for me and take me there to live with you. Why should I need further confirmation? You said it, and that settles it.

[Jesus said,] “There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.” John 14:2-3
