A prayer about Gratitude - Seeing God’s gifts

GRACIOUS FATHER,

Pushing the sleep from my eyes, I awake to the gift of a new day, and as I begin my routine, I focus on all you provide. My sight (and other senses) are profound gifts that I take for granted. The shelter of my home keeps me safe, and my comfortable bed allows for a good night’s sleep. I enjoy hot and cold running water and other bathroom facilities that I use without thinking. My closet is filled with so many clothes and shoes that I have to choose what to wear. Toothpaste, hair and face treatments, deodorant, mirror, comb, and brush all help me get ready to face the day. Pantry and refrigerator store breakfast ingredients that nourish me. The day has hardly begun, yet I have received so much from you already, Father. How could I have been nearly blind to your goodness for so long? But if I were to lose everything on that list, I would still have you—my salvation is secure because of the greatest gift. So I thank you, Lord, for all your gifts, big and small.
