A prayer about Prayer - Having holy conversations

DEAR LORD,

I don’t pray nearly enough. You and I have these short times together, and I pray at meals, in church, and before trips . . . and in times of need. But Paul wrote that we should “never stop,” that I should talk with you all day. I act as though I do in conversations with Christian friends. I’ve made prayer lists and then misplaced them. I glance at the prayer requests that come in ministry letters and church e-mails and briefly think about them. I even tell people, “I’ll pray for you,” and then quickly forget. I don’t know what’s hindering me—nothing should come between us. Forgive me for being so callous and for ignoring our relationship. I want to spend extended time in prayer, but I also want to talk with you continually, chatting about anything and everything—problems that surface, temptations that arise, decisions to make, individuals along the way, and numerous reasons to praise. And I definitely want to keep my promise and bring others’ needs before your throne.

As for me, I will certainly not sin against the LORD by ending my prayers for you. 1 Samuel 12:23
