Guard us from false teachers. You said they would infiltrate the flock, disguised as sheep. This means they are in religious circles, posing as deep thinkers, inspiring speakers, and insightful expositors, supposedly teaching your Word but twisting it instead. I have witnessed some on television or radio programs, and they seem to be doing very well, with large crowds hanging on every word and buying their merchandise. They claim to be Christian but offer no substance. I’ve known people who have been drawn into those webs of deceit. Dear Jesus, bring them to their senses. Make them see these teachers for what they are—false. Instead of pointing people to you, these religious celebrities are preaching for their own aggrandizement and profit. Some even claim that the Bible supports various forms of deviant behavior. That’s not “good fruit”; it’s bad and rotten. Strengthen your church, Lord. Give us leaders who will focus on you and who will tell the truth, even if it is tough to hear.

Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves. You can identify them by their fruit, that is, by the way they act. Matthew 7:15-16
