A prayer about Complaining - Choosing a positive attitude

FATHER GOD,

Sometimes my grumpiness and complaining begin right away, especially if I’ve had a restless sleep or when the weather isn’t good. I soon find that every little inconvenience or perceived slight bothers me. When that happens, I know I’m not much fun to be around, and I certainly don’t reflect well on you. I don’t like that version of me too much either. My desire is to be a positive, joyful person all the time. I can’t fake it, Lord. But I know you can change me and give me a genuine appreciation for life and all it offers. Help me choose to focus on the good of every morning: the fact that I survived another night, that I have shelter and food, and that I can get around. Mostly, I need to remember you and all you have done for me. Although Paul was in prison, with plenty of good reasons to complain, he wrote about his joy. That’s how I want to be. Make me a shining light for you.

Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people. Philippians 2:14-15
