A Prayer About Clothes
A prayer about Clothes - Wearing his righteousness
MY SOVEREIGN, MY KING,
As I was deciding what clothes to wear and getting dressed this morning, words from the old hymn “My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less” continued to roll through my mind: “Clothed in his righteousness alone, faultless to stand before the throne!” That is what you have done for me, God. I had nothing and was like a sick, filthy, smelly, destitute street beggar. Not only was I unfit to stand in the presence of royalty, I would not have been allowed anywhere near the palace grounds. Then, in love, you came to me and healed me, washed me, fed me, and put me in the finest clothes. You invited me in and adopted me into your family. Now as your child and clad in the “clothing of salvation” and the “robe of righteousness,” I stand before you—clean, forgiven, yours. What a miracle! What grace! So as I go through this day, continue to remind me that I am wearing much more than the outfit I chose. You, Lord, have dressed me.
I am overwhelmed with joy in the LORD my God! For he has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom dressed for his wedding or a bride with her jewels. Isaiah 61:10
