A prayer about God’s Support - Remembering the reality of his care

ALMIGHTY GOD,

As I was reading today’s passage, out jumped this small phrase: God is for us. What an amazing truth—that you, the eternal, sovereign Lord of the universe are on my side, as my advocate, cheerleader, counselor, and friend. Some picture you as an angry, cosmic law enforcer or stern judge, waiting to punish those who make mistakes. That’s not right. Instead you want us to succeed, to do and be our best as we glorify you. Please help me remember . . . when I wonder what to do, which way to go, God is for me. When I haven’t done well and think I’m a failure, God is for me. When I feel alone, isolated, deserted, God is for me. When I sense the strong pull of temptation, God is for me. In my pain, sorrow, and grief, God is for me. When I am confused and filled with doubts, God is for me. When I mess up and sin, again and again, God is for me. Hallelujah!

What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else? Romans 8:31-32
