A Prayer About Change

A prayer about Change - Finding stability

ALMIGHTY GOD,

Things are changing so fast that I’m feeling confused, disoriented. I think life is just fine the way it is, and I want it to stay that way. I hate variations or alterations, especially when they involve people I care about. But recently I learned that some friends are moving—not just one friend but several—and I can’t stop thinking about them and wondering what I’ll do without them. I know they can’t make their decisions based on my feelings or the effects of their actions on me, and I want to be happy for them. But it hurts. O Lord, what should I do? At times I feel as though my foundations are shifting, slipping away, and that I am simply a victim of everything that is happening around me. I need a place to stand; something to hold on to. I know you never change. You are always steady, strong, and present. Your love and care for me are consistent, too. Help me now, God, to hold on to you as you hold me.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8

Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. James 1:17
