A Prayer About Wounds

A prayer about Wounds

When I am deeply hurt

HEAVENLY FATHER,

You know everything I am going through—all the time. You know when I have been hurt, grievously wounded, and you feel with me. I know that many of my wounds have been self-inflicted, results of my mistakes and sins. Thank you for forgiving me and getting me back on my feet. At other times, I have felt wounded by a friend who has spoken truth to me, painful words that I needed to hear. Thank you for giving me those relationships—people who care enough to confront and correct me. You have used them mightily in my life. Recently I have struggled physically because I am a frail and weak human being, subject to accidents, infections, and other maladies in this fallen world. And you have been with me, giving me your peace and guiding the physicians. I have also been wounded by the sins of others, but you have stood with me and have given me strength to endure. In each wounding, I remember the wounds Jesus bore for me, a lost, undeserving sinner. I praise you.

[The Lord] heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. Psalm 147:3
