A Prayer About Wonder
A prayer about Wonder
When I need to see life as a child does
MY FATHER,
I love working with children, watching them discover and learn. They throw themselves into each activity with gusto and say whatever is on their minds. But the best treat is seeing their expressions of joy at a new truth or experience. I have grown and matured, and that’s good, but in the process I seem to have lost that sense of wonder and amazement. Very little affects me that way. Even the word wonderful has lost its meaning. Yet I am immersed in marvel, surrounded by miracles, from microscopic organisms to stellar constellations and human beings with eternal souls. Open my eyes, Lord; open my heart. You are doing something in my own day, in my own life. The fact that I can have this conversation with you is amazing. You also provide, protect, guide, and convict as your Spirit shapes me into the kind of person you want me to be. And right now this process is happening in countless thousands of lives of every nation and race, each one important to you. I am in awe.
The LORD replied, “Look around at the nations; look and be amazed! For I am doing something in your own day, something you wouldn’t believe even if someone told you about it.” Habakkuk 1:5
