A Prayer About Voices And Choices

When I have spiritual options

HOLY SPIRIT,

This truly is the information age. Because of technology, every day I learn more about the world and life than I ever thought possible. Everyone seems to have a smart phone with a camera, so images and messages are broadcast continually. The assault on my senses includes many choices in every area of life, including lifestyles, morals, and religion. And it goes beyond awareness: these voices urge me to make decisions, to choose. I know what I believe; I am fully committed to Christ as my Savior and Lord—that’s not up for debate. But I still wade through the other options. And persuasive spokespersons for distinct theological positions have been entering the scene through e-mails, broadcast media, and bestselling books. Some media personalities and people I know have been raving about them. So I ask you to help me sort through all of this as I compare their teachings to your inspired Word. Give me godly discernment, dear Holy Spirit. Lead me and strengthen me to reject the voices of error and choose only those options that honor you.
