A Prayer About Emptiness
A prayer about Emptiness
When I feel completely drained
O SOVEREIGN LORD,
I began the week with energy, enthusiasm, and optimism, knowing what I had to accomplish and eager to get to it. But after a day or two, I feel exactly the opposite—downcast and defeated. I am wiped out, totally drained, and dry, as though I have nothing left to give. Every place I turn, I encounter many who continue to want more from me than I can give, and today I moved from one person and one crisis to the next—all day. This recent turn of events is affecting my attitude and outlook on life. By the time I got home, I had lost my appetite and motivation, and I tired doing even small tasks. I need spiritual nourishment, Lord—strength, endurance, patience, and hope, which can only come from you. I need a fresh touch of your Spirit. Fill my empty soul with joy, I pray. And please give me rest, with a good night’s sleep, so I will awaken ready to face the responsibilities and challenges of a new day.
We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy. Colossians 1:11
