A Prayer About Sincerity

When I am tempted to fake it

FATHER,

I am repelled by insincerity—slick salespeople, shallow teachers, and phonies. I want people to speak the truth and to honestly express their thoughts and feelings. Yet today I found myself acting to make a positive impression. I want to be sincere in my actions and speech, meaning what I say. Only then will people believe what I say about you.

[Paul said,] “You see, we are not like the many hucksters who preach for personal profit. We preach the word of God with sincerity and with Christ’s authority, knowing that God is watching us.” 2 Corinthians 2:17
