A Prayer About Resolutions

A prayer about Resolutions

When I determine to improve

HEAVENLY FATHER,

Resolutions are easy to make and easy to break. Many people make them on January 1 because they want to change their lives, and the turning of the calendar, they hope, will mean a turn in their lives, a fresh start. I want to improve, especially in my relationship with you, but I don’t want to overpromise and underdeliver. I know I cannot change on my own, so I am trusting you to change my desires and give me strength. Having said that, I make these promises to you:

  • I will talk to you more, all through the day and at appointed times to go deeper and to listen.
  • I will read the Bible daily, devotionally, and study it regularly. I will look for ways to apply your timeless truths to my life today.
  • I will pray for my relatives, friends, coworkers, and neighbors who don’t know you, and I ask for opportunities to share your Good News with them.
  • I will look for ways to use my spiritual gifts.
  • I will worship you with my whole being.

Amen.

It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. Zechariah 4:6
