A Prayer About Sickness

When I am ill

GREAT PHYSICIAN,

Being sick can be frustrating, and this illness has dragged on for such a long time—with no end in sight. I can’t accomplish much; in fact, I don’t feel like doing anything. I have the physician’s advice and plenty of medicine, and I have been following the doctor’s orders. But I don’t seem to be getting any better. Help me, Lord. I need your healing touch. I’m not sure what the problem is, and I’m worried. Please give the doctors wisdom and answers, I pray. You are the Great Physician and the God of miracles. When Jesus was on earth, he healed crippled people, lepers, and the blind. He even raised people back to life. And I know of many times that you have answered prayers for the sick—people near and far have been restored. Although I want desperately to be healed completely, more than anything I want you to be glorified through me, whether I’m healthy or sick. And I know my next life with you in heaven will have no sickness or death. Thank you, Lord.

Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. James 5:15
