A Prayer About Dreams And Nightmares
A prayer about Dreams And Nightmares
When I lie down to sleep
DIVINE COMFORTER,
Lately I’ve had trouble falling asleep, regardless of when I go to bed. Then I’ve tossed and turned all night, sleeping in fits and starts with anxiety-filled, headache-producing dreams. So I’d get up, walk unsteadily to the bathroom, pop in some pain reliever, get ready, and make my way through the day, a little groggy but moving. I’m not sure of the source of these sleep problems. At first I thought the cause was the TV show I had just seen or the snack I had consumed before turning in. But without those, even with no TV or food, the dreams persist. So perhaps the underlying problem is a host of worries, daily stress, relationship issues, a specific fear, or general anxiety. Whatever the reason, I need your comforting presence; I need your peace; I need rest. Please still my conscious and unconscious mind and calm my emotions. And keep my dreams free of nightmares so that I might sleep well and wake up rested and in a good place physically and emotionally, ready to serve you another day.
You can go to bed without fear; you will lie down and sleep soundly. Proverbs 3:24
