A Prayer About Salvation

When I think about what being saved means

MY LORD AND SAVIOR,

I have heard the term saved bandied about over the years, as in “I’m saved” or “Jesus saved me,” and I have also used it casually. But the concept of salvation is most profound, and I dare not take it lightly. Lord, I know that I was lost—completely lost—separated from you, mired in sin, and headed straight to hell. I wasn’t a good person who needed improving—though that’s what most people probably thought of me—or even a bad person who needed reforming. I was sinful through and through, without hope. But because of the work of Christ alone, by grace alone, and through faith alone, you rescued me, declaring me “not guilty” and bound for heaven. You saved me from sin’s penalty. You also saved me from sin’s power. Before, my sinful nature controlled my attitude, thoughts, and actions. But you changed all that and are transforming me; thus, now I can choose to do what honors you. Salvation is not a cliché; it’s true, real, and mine. Thank you, my Savior.

There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12
