A Prayer About Restoration

A prayer about Restoration

When I am falling apart

MY LOVING FATHER AND LIFE BUILDER,

People who do housing restoration seek out and buy buildings that have fallen into disrepair. Then they fix them, restoring them to what they should be like, and then sell them for a profit. Right now I feel like a shabby home: neglected, torn, dusty, broken, and desperately needing repair. I confess that this has been my own doing—I have not worked at keeping my life in order by reading and applying your Word. Sin has been ripping the fabric of my life, and important relationships seem to be falling apart. I know you see value in me and can remake me into the kind of person you desire. I repent of my sins of commission and omission and humbly submit to you. Tear out and throw out what needs to go from every part of my life, your home. Remodel, add, and rebuild what you must. I acknowledge that the process will be painful, but necessary. Do with me as you will, restoring my hope, my joy, my life.

The high and lofty one who lives in eternity, the Holy One, says this: . . . “I restore the crushed spirit of the humble and revive the courage of those with repentant hearts.” Isaiah 57:15
