A Prayer About Questions

When I wonder

MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH,

You created everything, and the entirety belongs to you. My all-powerful God, you also are all knowing; nothing is too difficult for you. You know I have questions; but you also know the answers before I even ask. You are the awesome Lord, but you also are my Father, and you invite me to come into your presence with all my issues, including my doubts, fears, and queries. In Scripture I read how many of your choicest servants spoke harsh words to you, even questioning your actions—Job, David, Jeremiah, Habakkuk—so I know I can talk with you about anything. I have many questions: Why do you allow such tragedy and suffering in the world, especially to children? Why do evil people seem to get away with their terrible deeds? Why did my loved one die? What will happen in the Middle East? What will become of me? Certainly answers would be nice, but I know you are good and are working your purposes in the world and in my life. More than answers, I want you.

LORD, you always give me justice when I bring a case before you. So let me bring you this complaint: Why are the wicked so prosperous? Why are evil people so happy? Jeremiah 12:1
