A Prayer About Self-esteem

A prayer about Self-esteem

When I feel worthless

MY FATHER IN HEAVEN,

I have messed up often this week with substandard performance, relationship issues, and sin. I know you have forgiven me, but right now I am feeling nearly worthless, especially when I compare myself to others. Many accomplish more, look better, and seem more spiritual. Thank you for reminding me of Jesus’ words to his disciples about your loving concern for every sparrow. I, too, need to remember that you value me much more than a whole flock of sparrows! And I know that through Paul you say I am your “masterpiece.” Right now I don’t feel much like a fine work of art or marvelous in any way. So please show me how I can use my God-given abilities and gifts to do good things for you. I want you to use me, but right now I’m unsure how that will work out. Thankfully your work in the world does not depend on me and my efforts but on you and your mighty power. I am grateful for the privilege of serving you any way I can.

We are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10
