A Prayer About Pressure

When I am feeling pressed in on every side

DEAR GOD,

Today I have been feeling tremendous pressure from all sides. Some of this comes from my own expectations for my performance. I want to complete assignments on time and achieve results of the highest quality. So I pray that you’d help me be able to cut myself some slack and take things one at a time. But I’m also feeling pressure from other sources. My schedule is jammed with events and appointments that require my presence and full attention. In addition, some family members expect me to act a certain way, even if I don’t feel like it. And a number of bills and other financial obligations are taxing my dwindling resources. I also feel pulled to those tempting indulgences that aren’t good for me as a way to cope. I would ask you to remove these pressures, Lord, but you know what is best. So instead, I pray for the inner strength to withstand the external forces, relying completely on you to work through me to answer the questions and meet the demands.

If you fail under pressure, your strength is too small. Proverbs 24:10
