A Prayer About Preparation

A prayer about Preparation

When I think about being ready to meet Christ

MY LORD AND SAVIOR,

When you left earth, you promised to return one day when we least expect it. Some people have thought that being ready means waiting patiently—many have even tried to figure out the exact time of your second coming. That’s not me, but I can become complacent and even forget that you could come back at any moment. So I want to be prepared for that glorious event. Please show me, Lord, the specifics of preparation for my life. I know that means loosening my grip on this world and all it offers because, in the words of the old chorus, “This world is not my home.” It also means taking Spirit-led opportunities to share the Good News in my style, using the gifts you have given to me. And being prepared means living in such a way that I would not be ashamed at your appearing—living as your child and honoring you with my thoughts, words, and deeds. Even so, come Lord Jesus, and please come soon.

I solemnly urge you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who will someday judge the living and the dead when he appears to set up his Kingdom: Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. 2 Timothy 4:1-2
